After the past two years, I am very much looking forward to doing things that make me happy in 2022. And gardening is definitely at the top of my list. Who am I kidding, it is always at the top of my list! But more so than now to keep me positive and to give me some normalcy during these not-so-normal times.
Since January, I have been combing through plant catalogs and making my “wish lists” for the Spring. One of the things I am always interested in finding are unique and native plants for my gardens. Experience tells me that the best way to do this is by attending local garden and club plant sales all over the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. Not only am I helping native birds and pollinators, but I am also adding conversation starters to delight my fellow gardeners.
Last year I was totally amazed to find some Indian Pink at the Texas Discovery Garden’s plant sale. The volunteers were equally as shocked that I knew what the plant was. Fellow gardeners who get as excited as I do about rare flowers are definitely my people!
I highly recommend adding these events to your calendar and attend as many as you can. These local clubs use all of the proceeds to give back to their communities through scholarships and educational events. They always have rarer and harder to find natives that are not sold in box stores. I feel truly fortunate to live in a place where I have so many wonderful gardening groups nearby. The list below has all of the events and details in order by date to make your job easier. Bring your wagon, mask, and lots of cash and I hope to see you out there!

If you are able to attend any of these plant sales, please let me know if you find an awesome plant! As a member of the Texas Discovery Garden, their sale is always my favorite. As a member, I am always drawn to the Texas Discovery Garden sale and highly recommend it. I also recommend the Collin County Master Gardeners sale and the Heard Museum plant sale, both of which my Mom is a member of so she usually attends for me. No matter which sale you choose to attend, make sure to support these wonderful organizations and make sure “No Gardener is left inside!”
